Hytekrednek
This is most likely somewhere else in here but I just felt I needed to ask. When I first start my 93 Pathy the lights, HVAC fans and pretty much all electrical seems to be going slow. Then after a couple of minutes it's like it kicks into high gear for the electrical. No CEL, no idiot lights. It only seems to do this if it sits overnight or after the vehicle has completely cooled down. Has anyone seen this on there ride??? I have yet to do an alternator update on my rig. James
nunya
Is start with a check of the alty AND the battery, make sure you ain't starting up on low juice and getting good charge.
Hytekrednek
I know that it is a good battery. And as strange as it seems is it is charging at a good rate as well. I'm hoping that when I do an alt upgrade that it will fix the problem.
RedPath88
How do you know the battery is good? Hopefully not just because it is xx months old, because I just had a 6mo old battery die on me (along with the alty, which one could have killed the other.) RedPath88
Oh and I would recommend that you figure out exactly what the problem is before you put a new alty in. I'd suggest that you pull both and have them tested independently.
Hytekrednek
I had the battery tested recently when I forgot to turn off the dome light and killed the battery. Took it in and had it checked before it was charged and put back in the truck. Will have the alternator checked this week.
vagabond
you may also have a draw on the system, drawing the battery down
Hytekrednek
Well the dome light was the draw that caused the initial reason for checking the battery. So I will have the alternator checked this week to see what I can figure out. James
Precise1
A quick, easy thing to check is the connections, terminals, clamps, wires, ground points, alty connections, etc. Sounds like something is heating up and engaging better... B
Hytekrednek
Thanks for that insight B. Will be checking it out to see if there are any loose connections at the alternator. Thanks for all the help. James
vagabond
Just for the heck of it if you have a volt ohm meter, check the battery voltage in the morning before starting, then check and see what it is after the engine is running for a few
